Trust Accountant/Finance Role

A position has become available for an experienced Trust Accountant to join our Finance Team. We currently have a varied portfolio of property we manage spanning across Residential, Retail, Commercial and various community portfolios.

The role is a dual role with 50% Trust Accounting for the property management team and 50% General Accounting support for the finance team. We use Yardi Voyager as our system for property management and Xero for our business finance system; experience using these or similar systems is essential.

The role is diverse as are our clients with key responsibilities as follows:

Property Management

  • Manage day to day trust accounting processes in accordance with statutory requirements;
  • Work in collaboration with the property management team to provide support with on-boarding new properties, provide up to date timely and accurate financial reporting as required and assistance with budgeting and forecasting;
  • Daily finance tasks such as bank reconciliations, merchant facility transactions, direct debit processing, collections of all rent income, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions;
  • Preparation of all mid-month and month end reporting for all owners as and when required including commentary;
  • Outgoing reconciliations;
  • Preparation of accounts for end of year financial audit;

Accounting Support

  • Daily finance tasks such as bank reconciliations, merchant facility transactions, direct debit processing, collections of all rent income, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions;
  • Assistance with month end reporting and various ad hoc requirements

Reporting to the Associate Director for Finance & Operations you will be required to work and collaborate with the property management team as well as other employees of the business as required.

Candidates who wish to apply for the role must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance and or similar discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience working with Trust Accounts in the property industry minimum 2 years;
  • Strong numerical analysis and problem solving capabilities;
  • Proficient in Yardi or similar as well as Microsoft Office products more specifically Excel;
  • Be highly organised and efficient;
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills;
  • Be confident and professional in appearance and work ethic

Commercial Property Manager

Join Preston Rowe Paterson Sydney and benefit from a competitive salary as well as access to some of the best innovative technology including Yardi Voyager.

You will support and assist in the management of client portfolios and the assets contained within them. You will be responsible for day to day operations of the portfolios working alongside the Associate Director Property, Asset and Facilities Management taking directions and guidance. Your day to day will include:

  • Working collaboratively with the Trust Accountant to ensure timely and accurate production of bi-monthly, monthly and end of year financial reporting;
  • Ensure high quality services are consistently provided to owners and tenants in the management of their properties;
  • Prepare all necessary documentation relating to the leasing of properties, including management tenancy agreements, inspection reports (both outgoing and incoming), and the preparation and lodgment of bond documents;
  • Prepare and deliver necessary submissions to the Tenancy Tribunal on behalf of property owners when required;
  • Ensure properties are maintained in accordance with the owner’s instructions. Liaise regularly with both owners and tenants to ensure repairs are carried out expeditiously, economically and to an acceptable standard;
  • Ensure you keep abreast of market development and indicators;
  • Maintain all the statutory required records, regularly updating tenants and landlords with regards to property issues;
  • Arrange advertising of properties using digital media;
  • Handle maintenance issues including obtaining quotes and confirming jobs with trades persons;
  • Provide property information and assistance to tenants as requested;
  • Develop new business to build the property portfolio.

Candidates who wish to apply for this role must have a passion for property, possess excellent communication skills and be confident and professional in appearance and work ethic. You will have:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in property management with a valid Certificate of Registration;
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Highly organised and efficient;
  • Professional presentation and manner;
  • Must have access to a fully road worthy, registered and insured motor vehicle and hold a current drivers licence;
  • Knowledge of the Sydney commercial property market;
  • High degree of accountability and attention to detail;
  • Degree in Property (preferred).
