Biography

Richard Lawrie is a Director in Investment Valuation & Capital Markets Advisory at Preston Rowe Paterson Sydney, bringing more than 30 years’ experience across property valuation, consultancy, and real estate investment management in Australia. He is a highly regarded senior practitioner with deep expertise spanning the office, industrial, retail, infrastructure, and specialised asset sectors, and is recognised for his leadership in institutional grade valuation and advisory services.

Prior to joining Preston Rowe Paterson, Richard held senior executive roles at JLL, including Executive Director and Head of Office Valuations (Australia) and Head of NSW Value & Risk Advisory, where he led large professional teams and was responsible for the delivery of valuation services to major domestic and international institutional clients. His tenure at JLL included national responsibility for office valuation strategy, client engagement, and thought leadership across Australian markets.

Earlier in his career, Richard spent over six years with Dexus Property Group, where he held senior investment and portfolio management roles, providing valuation, asset management, portfolio analytics, and asset pricing advice across a multi billion dollar office portfolio throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Richard is a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute (FAPI) and a Certified Practising Valuer, with recognised expertise in commercial valuation, expert witness work, compensation and resumption, easements, government and statutory valuation, and complex asset classes. His client experience spans both the public sector, including NSW Government agencies and leading private sector institutions such as major REITs, fund managers, banks, and corporates.

Richard has collaborated with clients in both public and private sectors. Government clients include Placemaking NSW, Infrastructure NSW, Transport for NSW, CSIRO and Sutherland Shire Council. Private sector clients include companies such as Dexus, Charter Hall, Mirvac, Lendlease, Investa, Cbus, ISPT, CBA, Westpac, NAB and Sydney Airports.

He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Land Economics) from the University of Technology Sydney and is known for combining rigorous analytical discipline with pragmatic commercial judgement.
